Fall & Winter Temperatures 

Daytime temperatures in Pinos Altos during the autumn months typically hover between 55°F to 75°F. As the sun sets, the temperatures can drop considerably, often reaching the 30s and 40s, so pack accordingly. In Winter months, be sure to pack your heated water hose. While daytime temps are often above freezing, the occasional winter storm can bring below freezing temps for a handful of days. Winter nighttime temps average in the 20's. 

Precipitation

Autumn is relatively dry, with rare, occasional showers or light snow dusting that melts within a few hours. However, it’s always wise to be prepared for sudden changes in weather, especially in mountainous regions. December through February can bring the occasional wet snow storm to our neighborhood, so be sure to check weather conditions prior to traveling. Snow accumulation can range from an inch to a foot at times, but melts quickly due to our latitude and abundant sunshine.

With additional paid parking for personal ATVs at Continental Divide Park & Camp, visitors can explore the vast landscapes of the Gila National Forest, discovering hidden gems and scenic spots at their own pace, reaching further into the wilderness.

If you need assistance while in the region, the Gila National Forest Ranger Station is located less than 10 miles away from the Continental Divide Park & Camp at 3005 E. Camino del Bosque, Silver City NM 88061, one-quarter of a mile north of the intersection of US Hwy 180 and 32nd St Bypass in Silver City. Rangers are ready to assist visitors and provide essential forest-related information.
